I had this mashup done a while back, but I’m just getting around to releasing it now as an exclusive for SecretTV. If you get a chance, check out the video I made for this one via their site.
As you may notice, I decided to take more of a remixing approach to this one by intertwining and transposing different elements from each of the 3 songs throughout the course of the track. This one actually took quite a long time to do (despite how basic the end result might sound).
I’ve been looking for an excuse to do a mashup with a Metallica track for a very long time now. The problem I’ve always had, however, was finding something ridiculous to throw on one of their songs. My feeling is that I couldn’t do something that might be a plausible combination, so it really had to be “out there” and something that would never, ever happen.
Fortunately, nothing is more ridiculous (and less likely to happen) than Rihanna & Chris Brown singing “Birthday Cake” over “Sad But True”. I’m just glad I was able to pull it off.
I miss good hip hop. What happened to the genre? I think I can only name a handful of songs in the past few years that were really “good”. People might disagree with me, but I think Wiz Khalifa’s “Work Hard, Play Hard” is one of them. Seeing as though the opportunity doesn’t arise too often, I felt that I had to do something with that beat. Tiësto’s “Work Hard, Play Hard” (featuring the vocals of Kay) seemed like an ironic yet solid fit.
